Interview with Writer Connie Wilson (Twitter Short Story)

Matthew Toffolo: What gave you the idea to write this very short story?

Connie Wilson: A close friend I was a cheerleader with in high school (6-girl squad) had “brain bleeds” that were addressed by the University of Iowa Hospitals. Everyone thought she was “okay.” She dropped dead in her front yard while mowing the grass. She had just gotten married.

2) How many stories/screenplays have you written?

I have 3 books of short stories entitled “Hellfire & Damnation,” (I, II and III, http://www.HellfireAndDamnationTheBook.com). I also have 3 paperback volumes of “Ghostly Tales of Route 66” and several e-book versions. (www.GhostlyTalesofRoute66.com). I have won 38 screenplay competitions since March, 2018, for a screenplay based on the first book in my 3-novel series THE COLOR OF EVIL. Prior to that, I had won a screenplay competition sponsored by Writer’s Digest.

3) What movie have you watched the most times in your life?

Hard to say, since I review film for http://www.TheMovieBlog.com and my own blog, http://www.WeeklyWilson.com. One that I’ve seen a lot is “Animal House” and a second one I periodically revisit is “Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.” (Kubrick).

4) What’s your favorite thing about twitter? What’s your least favorite thing about twitter?

I don’t spend much time on Twitter. Recently, Twitter has been billing me $99 a month (April AND May) for Twitter Ads that I did not order and am not running. I tried to call them, but there is literally no way to reach them. I went to their “customer service” website and it was like a bad version of “Who’s on First.” I kept typing (all in capitals): QUIT BILLING ME $99 A MONTH FOR ADS I AM NOT RUNNING!!! The little bot would say, “I’m sorry. I don’t understand what you are trying to say. Could you please select one of these categories.” If I have the complete interaction, I’m going to copy it and paste it here. It is absolutely one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had. I finally had to call my credit card company to make them stop billing me $99 for NOTHING on a monthly basis (so my advice is NOT to give Twitter access to your credit card numbers!

Fate by Connie Wilson

The sound. Thudding. Pressure.
Blinding pain. She grabbed her head. Swayed. Fell.
Too late.
Heartbeat crescendoing. Mounting echo within her head.
“Sorry, Sir. Cerebral aneurysm. Nothing we could do.”
Dead at 21.
