Get to know the screenwriter:

1. What is your screenplay about?

The series is about a run-down, family owned amusement part and the struggles it goes through to stay open. The pilot introduces us to the fact the long time owner dies, leaving his clueless widow at the new owner. When a tax bill comes due, the employees hatch a plan to (literally) shake down the customers to pay it off.

2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?

It’s a half-hour, single cam sitcom.

3. Why should this screenplay be made into a TV show?

You haven’t seen a TV comedy about amusement park workers before.

4. How would you describe this script in two words?

Adventureland + Superstore

5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?

The Shawshank Redemption. Probably because on any given Saturday, you can find it on 5 different cable channels.

6. How long have you been working on this screenplay?

On and off for about 3 years. It’s based on an actual park in Western New York. I wrote the first half when I heard the park was closing, then finished it when I heard someone was buying it to keep it open.

7. How many stories have you written?

I have a bad habit of working on a script, then getting inspired to work on another one. I have one completed historical fiction drama script that’s won a few awards, and a crime thriller. I have the following in various stages of writing. Features: One comedy, one horror, one dramedy and another historical drama; TV: One hour long drama and one sitcom.

8. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)

I’ve been around awhile, so not sure.

9. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?

This one flowed pretty smoothly out of my brain. I don’t write full time, so life obstacles were the biggest challenge.

10. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I did improv comedy for 30 years and am a very mediocre guitar player.

11. You entered your screenplay via FilmFreeway. What has been your experiences working with the submission platform site?

I’ve been submitting to Filmfreeway for a lot of years now.

12. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?

The first scene table read was very nice and much appreciated!
