1. What motivated you to make this film?

I was inspired by a lot of things with this film. I have no example of my nonverbal acting work and wanted to make something that showcased it. I also saw a challenge at writing a script with no words. I was inspired by Buster Keaton, and all the great old silent filmmakers, Looney Tunes, my own battles with Anxiety, and my love of my city, New York.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

From ideation to raising funds to shooting to post took about 4 years.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Joyous romp

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Wearing so many hats was a huge challenge (I was the director, writer, producer and actor) and then shooting a 15 location film in 3 days was intense. However the most challenging was doing post production completely remotely during the pandemic collaborating across 4 states.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

It made my heart sing!

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I’m a plus sized actress. There isn’t a lot of work for me. I need to make my own work.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Probably Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

Connect us with decision makers?

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

They’re pretty great.

10. What is your favorite meal?

Probably a dinner at Gyu-kaku, this awesome Japanese BBQ

11. What is next for you? A new film?

I’m auditioning. I have a very Jewish comedy pilot and a feature thriller about abortion I’d like to make if I find the funding. (Reach out!) @SharaAshleyZ on all the socials. Follow the journey! #IMustacheYouFilm
