Interview with Poet Alexandra Lean (NOBODY’S IDOL)

1) What is the theme of your poem?

Fame by way of death

2) What motivated you to write this poem?

It’s for a character in a musical I wrote who wants to be like Tupac or any famous talented dead person whose work is still popular after their death. In the musical the God of Fame comes to earth to host a reality singing competition. Each contestant has a warped sense of what fame will give them. Jay-B is the character this poem/rap is for.

3) How long have you been writing poetry?

It’s more like lyrics rather than poetry. Since 2012 is when I officially made an effort to write songs.

4) If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

Alive – Oprah
Dead – Prince
Fictional- Tyrion Lannister

5) What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

I feel so limited these days in that I write scripts and songs that are meant to be performed. But to produce anything again seems beyond my means. It felt nice to send off to someone else to do all that work for me.

6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

Yes. So many scripts!

7) What is your passion in life?

Making things up.
