Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?
We really wanted to explore the idea of taking the lyrics from the song and spinning them on their head in this music video. That lead to the idea that there can be a fine line between unconditional love and invasive infatuation.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
The idea probably rolled around in my head for a few weeks, then a few weeks of pre-production. But we shot the whole thing in 2 days.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
I wouldn’t. However, I did ask chatgpt to summarize our plot line for you. Here’s the result: “Melodic Suspense”

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
It actually went remarkably smoothly because of the awesome team that was assembled. I guess the biggest obstacle was the space restraint from filming the whole thing inside an apartment. Well, that, and the crew having to continually climb 3 flights of stairs all day. Sorry again guys.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
It was great! It’s super helpful as a filmmaker to see how your vision is received by the audience! I wish all festivals provided this kind of instant visual feedback.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I directed my first music video out of necessity because the band and I were not getting our vision across when hiring outside production companies. Having some experience in the industry, the band decided I should just direct the next video. That’s where it all started.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
I really don’t tend to watch films over and over again now, but when I was younger I definately watched the sh*t outta some Tarantino films!

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
The above-mentioned video feedback would be an excellent addition to all festivals as far as I’m concerned.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It’s usually a pretty quick and easy process. Anything that takes as little time away from the creative process as possible is a bonus for me.

10. What is your favorite meal?
Food.

11. What is next for you? A new film?
Another music video is in the percolation phase – stay tuned!
