Fairy Fingers is a documentary that tells the story of my son, who, despite his difference was able to grow up, take on challenges and realize his potential. It’s a story about how I, as a parent, went from a feeling of helplessness to one of pride and fascination.

Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

When my son Paul told me in May 2021 that my daughter-in-law Lilie was pregnant, I immediately thought it was time to tell his wonderful story of hope, confidence and perseverance.
I had to produce a short film to tell his story, our story, with the idea of giving courage and hope to other families who also live with differences.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

Almost 18 months

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

From helplessness to pride and fascination.

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Digitizing more than twenty old videos, watching them, rediscovering moving moments, spotting interesting moments and, above all, choosing extracts. I could have had at least 2 hours of beautiful moments.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

Honestly, I cried the whole time. I was very touched by the comments and very happy to see that my film is doing good for people and that it can be useful.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

In my artistic approach, I was initially chosen to represent diversity, but very quickly, this difference opened doors for me to other roles. That’s how I came to write screenplays, a technique I was able to perfect during the pandemic period, training offered by Main
film in scriptwriting, coaching and documentary writing.
the current project is like a continuation for the artist, woman and mother that I am.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
12 angry men.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

This is my first experience, and I’m financing the distribution and screening of my film. I need ideas to promote and publicize my film.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

It was a wonderful experience. I discovered the world of festivals. Winning 3 prizes was unreal. I can’t wait for my film’s status to change from unselected to selected.

10. What is your favorite meal?
Tabouleh.

11. What is next for you? A new film?
A new fiction short-movie, inpired by my life as an immigrant.
